POLICE CLOSE NOTORIOUS JAKARTA CLUB 'STADIUM'

Infamous Indonesian nightclub Stadium has been forced to shut its doors following the death of a policeman who had been partying there.

The young officer, 22-year-old Jicky Vay Gumerang, had allegedly taken ecstasy and methamphetamine in the lead up to his death.

The club has since had its permit revoked and is unable to open.

Stadium, located in Jakarta's west, has been known as a haven for debauchery over its long history, dating back to the 1990s.

Following news of the club's closure, Joris Voorn tweeted "I can't believe Stadium Jakarta is shut down... that place was by (sic) the craziest club I've seen in my life, nothing..." before drawing comparisons with the club from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's vampire flick "From Dusk Till Dawn".

The club was clearly respected by those in the know, with Eats Everything replying "One of the best places I've ever played. Hands down."
